The love for montage of color and shapes found in nature inspire Ilona to paint. Her travels over the world have given her a wealth of memories and distinct European influence in her work.

Ilona’s naïve approach to Impressionist painting has given her a risk taker reputation. She was born in East Germany to German/Hungarian parents, a dichotomy in itself. As in her paintings there is a division into two parts usually sharply distinguished or opposed. Like phases of the moon in which just half of its surface facing earth seems illuminated, the viewer knows there is another side. Her subjects vary greatly from patterned interiors, lush landscapes, to favorite beach scenes.
