Sonserae Leese, A native of Orange County, CA, just recently moved back to the area after spending the last 20 years working in Los Angeles as an Artist and Painter in the film and entertainments industry. She spent years as an Artist at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA, along with Nickelodeon, Sony and various other studios. She had a lead role in painting on feature films and tv shows such as Bolt, Meet the Robinsons, Stuart Little, Polar Express, Kung Fu Panda and Penguins of Madagascar. She is a nominated member of the Emmy Academy.
She obtained a B.A. in Fine Art from Pepperdine University with a minor in Photography. After studying Art in Europe, she got into computer graphics in it’s infancy and was one of the few women in visual effects when it began. She set up a computer graphics division of a large corporation before getting into the film business.
She continues to do graphic design and digital art but is also enjoying getting back to her paints, paper and canvas. She recently finished a huge mural painting in the backyard of a historical mid-century home where it was featured in Interior Design magazines. Her favorite medium is watercolor. She sells and displays her work and is an instructor for both children and adults alike. She enjoys experimenting with colors, textures and different painting techniques and has a passion for painting everything that has to do with the ocean and the beach as well as other natural elements.
She obtained her graduate education at Fuller Seminary studying Theology and the Arts. She currently is founder and Executive Director of Sophie’s Dream, Inc. A non-profit dedicated to healing those in trauma and PTSD through the Arts. A portion of all proceeds goes to supporting her foundation.
